3-Way Almond Milk

Here are three homemade almond milk recipes if you feel so inclined. 90% of the time I buy my plant milk, but once in a while I make my own because it’s so creamy and delicious. I think you’ll like it too!

3 Way Almond Milk | Real. Simple. Vegan.

Chocolate Almond Milk | Real. Simple. Vegan.

Servings 4 Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup almonds
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup dates (pitted)

Instructions

  1. Boil almonds for 30 minutes.

  2. Place boiled almonds, water, cocoa powder and dates in a high-powered blender.

  3. Purée until the almonds slices look very fine and until dates are puréed.

  4. Strain into a jar or pitcher with a nut-milk bag. To do this, stretch bag around lid of container and pour contents of blender into the bag. Squeeze the bag to extract all liquid.

    If you do not have a nut milk bag, you can strain with an ultra-fine sieve.

  5. Keep in the fridge for up to one week. 

Recipe Notes

Almond milk separates. Just shake the container as you would with store-bought almond milk or stir with a spoon before drinking.

Ensure you are using a high-powered blender. A regular blender will not be effective.

Vanilla Almond Milk | Real. Simple. Vegan.

Servings 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup almonds
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup dates (pitted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
